No way!!! You are kidding me right?? Maybe it's nerves??? This evening when I got home from orientation I noticed a slight tickle/tightness in my throat. Natural reaction: cough then proceed to ignore. Now, as I get ready for bed, it full on hurts and feels like it's getting larger! Really? On the eve of our court date, the eve of my oral placement exam for my Arabic class this fall, and 1 week before school starts my throat hurts! Glimpse into my prayers tonight "please God don't let this be a sore throat that means I actually get sick!" positive thoughts: I am just fine; it is nerves; it will go away.
On another front...Kael and I and our former roommates go to court bright and early at 8:30 tomorrow. Best case scenario: we walk out not owing him a dime and our rental history cleared. Worst case: we pay him the money he believes we owe him (around $500) plus his court filing fees ($225). Please join me and hoping we win! I will definitely update on both the outcome of our case and my feelings on how successful my oral exam was! I won't have results until next tues as far as placement goes since I have to take the written exam as well next tues.
I am off to bed now! We have an early start (meeting the roommates around 730 to prepare). And I better kick this sore throat to next year...maybe even 2 yrs from now, from the looks of it I don't have time to get sick until the president of this school gives me my M.A!!
Before I go though, I must throw positive vibes out into the universe for my grandma's second hip replacement surgery tomorrow! After the emergency surgery she had weeks ago she fractured her hip and just hasn't been able to recover properly. So they are going back in tomorrow to fix it! Hopefully this 2nd go around will make it a lot easier process for her to heal! It has been a tough few weeks and we all hope this surgery will make it easier for her to recover and feel more herself again! Right Gma!!?? I am sure you can't wait to get up moving again with ease and speed, and maybe less tripping? ;-) love you lots G'ma! (as she is one of my few readers I feel it appropriate to go ahead and speak directly to her!) ;-)
Big Tuesday ahead for all of us!!
Much love, and positive thoughts,
Until next time,
Sash

Chapter 2: Arabic
They weren't joking when they advertised this summer as an intensive summer of Arabic. 9 weeks of Arabic that would normally be taught in 1 academic year felt like it went by so fast! I can't believe how much we learned so fast and how much more comfortable I am speaking and especially writing. I made a wonderful group of friends that I will miss dearly and bonus for me, some of them are staying for school here at MIIS! Jump start on making friends! YAY haha
I am taking my placement test next week so I am still studying a lot to get ready for that exam. It is nice having this break from everything for a week just to catch up, get settled and do some studying I wasn't able to do because we were so rushed. I tested well in the post-summer exam which will be similar to my MIIS placement exam next week. My professor this summer said if I do the same, maybe a bit better on my speaking I should be able to jump up a level, which would be great!! Save me some money on a class, which would be great!
To insure I do well though I better study...so I guess I'll go do that now for a bit and I'll continue blogging later. Lost more to fill you in on before I start school next week! :)
Much love

Chapter 1: Eviction
I thought I would break my summer up into several posts, like chapters, so you don't have to sit through one long drawn out one. So, lets see....where do we begin? 2 weeks after we moved into our Seaside house...you know, the fixer uper I posted pictures of before, we called our landlord over so that Kael and I could sign the lease, which we hadn't done yet. It just so happened while we were waiting for him, a Code Enforcement Officer from the Police Department showed up in our front yard. Confused we spoke to her about why she came, turns out our house had been red taped several times and he built the extension of the house...the "man cave" we called it...and paved part of the drive way without getting proper papers from the city. Our landlord came over while the officer was still there and they discussed/argued about the matter for awhile. We over heard he would have to go to court in August and he was furious. Turns out, he thought/thinks we called the cops on him, which is ridiculous. The next day he submitted papers to try to raise our rent, so we gave him our 30 day notice that we would leave. See, we paid 1st month, last month, and deposit already so we could live for free our last month. Well, turns out he thought otherwise. Long story short a little over a week before we were going to move out he issued us a 3 day to pay or get out notice, which was confusing because we had given our notice that we would be out by August. Why would we pay when we had already paid for that month and we weren't staying any further? It didn't make sense. Plus we didn't take him seriously because he was in his own legal trouble so we falsely assumed he wouldn't really be doing any of the paperwork within the legal system because he has his own troubles with the law. We were wrong. I got a call one morning, actually the morning right before I was supposed to go down to LA for the weekend, from Kael saying we had been officially served our Eviction npapers. PANIC! This begins the battle we are still fighting now. In fact, he is actually suing us for around $300 that he says we owe for the increase in rent. Our court date is next Tuesday the 23rd. The same day as my grandma's 2nd total hip replacement I found out now as I was writing this post. Lots of things going on...
Well friends and family, the saga continues, I promise I will post after court and let you know the verdict. Hopefully we won't have to pay...it is ridiculous.
Now for chapter 2....

What you've missed
WHOOPS. I haven't posted since JUNE!?? I keep forgetting to blog!!! Wow where did July go?? This is awful because now this post is probably going to be unnecessarily long!! Here is a list of reasons why I haven't blogged in so long:
1. We got evicted and we are being sued
2. I had to find a new place to live with Kael at short notice, due to reason #1
3. Found a place, had to pack and unpack
4. My summer long intensive Arabic program flew by like it was 2 days and I studied a lot more than anticipated (weird!) haha
5. Travelled more than I should have: Spent my birthday in LA 4th of July weekend, went to a Giants game with Hutch, Hayley, Neena, and Kaitlin in San Fran, went to see Kristina and some other Model UN friends in LA the last weekend in July....WAY too much fun for one month! ;)
6. The last 2 weeks of Arabic were very intensive academically and the last week of Arabic very intensive saying goodbye to friends I'll miss
7. I think that is all of my excuses....time to do some updating
